Hi there, I’m Swamy and I’m a Food Scientist. Myself and my wife Mahi fell in love with Ireland when I came here to do an interview for a job with the Limerick Institute of Technology (LIT) in 2009. We came straight from Sweden where I had just finished my PhD focusing on Anti-oxidants in Food. The job in LIT allowed me to continue my research into a subject that I was very passionate about.

After a total of 10 years of research, I created the Near to Nature health bars as a response to the rise in ‘snacks’ for runners and sports people that had many unusual ingredients in them. I wanted to use all my knowledge to make a food product that would be as near to nature as you could find on the market with a high nutrient count and something that could function in a more nutritious way for everyone not just athletes.

More importantly I wanted to make a plant based bar with no added sugar.

In 2016, I was delighted when Rory joined my team. Rory is from Limerick city and has a degree in Herbal Science. His knowledge, enthusiasm and versatility has added another layer to this new and innovative snack range.

Galway woman Lorraine is the latest addition to the team and she has a background in Community Development, having worked on many different issues using positive marketing strategies. Lorraine helps with promotion and is overseeing the development of our brand values.
